Many get intimidated with the thought of starting out their own garden. It requires a lot of work and patience. Not to mention all that technical knowledge to keep your plant alive. But you know things like this don't really need to be complicated. All you need is the perfect set of hacks that will get you through. In today’s collection of gardening and landscaping hacks, we’ll give you simple but effective techniques to get that beautiful garden and yard that you’ve always dreamed of.

  1. Cardboard Seed Tubes - to start your seeds easily, save your toilet paper and paper towel tubes. Cut the tubes into at least 2-inch length and set them in a waterproof tray. Fill them with soil and plant your seeds in. When the seedlings are ready to be transferred to your garden, plant them right in their own cardboard tube. The cardboard will eventually decompose.

  2. Plant in a pot landscaping - want to reorganize your garden after the plants mature? You’ll only need a bunch of pots of the same size so they’ll nest in each other. Put your plants in doubled pots, then bury them at ground level. Whenever you want a change of look, life out the top pot and put in a different one. Such a slick technique if you also want to move your plants indoors.

  3. Healthy Plant Hydration - when water settles at the bottom of the pots, the roots may eventually rot. To help resolve this, cut up old sponges and put them in the bottom of the pot. The sponges retain the moisture that the plants need while creating enough air space. They also help prevent water from flushing right out. The sponge’s absorbent characteristic acts as a water reserve to keep the soil moist for a longer time.

  4. To-Go Coffee Cup to Water Plants - hello coffee lovers! A clean to-go coffee cup with a lid makes an excellent watering can. The hole in the lid is just the perfect opening for pouring the water slowly so your plants are not overwatered, especially for those species that don’t really like much water in them. So keep those cups and use them as alternative watering cans.
